Mojaan Laen Do by Daler Mehndi
The Badshah of Pop “Daler Mehndi” once again created the blueprint for Bhangra pop doles out with bounty of enjoyment with his ‘Mojaan Laen Do’.
The album is a nine-track jewel from the Pasha of Pop Daler Mehndi and straight from his heart. He introduces a new genre of folk music ‘Rababi’ – a revival of a traditional form of singing with a mix of Sufi and Arabic rhythms. Its combustible union of lyrics, melody and beat showcases his musical prowess as he manages to stay miles ahead continually pushing the limit of Indi pop acceptability.
Tough and uncompromising, the album is a blistering antidote to the world we’ve come to share with a generation that thinks jalwas of remixes is the pinnacle of artistic achievement. And this time around, the singer-writer-composer has produced the album that’s screaming with his trademark energy, lots of bass guitar, Arabic nuances, and western classical notes intelligently woven with Patiala Gharana style of singing.
Mojaan Laen Do _ all funked up with some subtle scratching on the turntables _ is surely destined for loud play at all poolside bars and floor filler at discs this summer.
The Album is a compilation of 4 shabad’s, written by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Bhai Gurdas Ji whose words are considered as the key to understand Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Each Shabad is composed keeping in mind the meaning of the words.
Daler Mehndi gifts his fans a new blockbuster Lohri Song – LOHRI 2014.
The Song celebrates the midwinter festival of the Indian subcontinent to mark the winter solstice day (being shortest day and longest night of the year) signifying the return of longer days.
In the evening, with the setting of the sun, huge bonfires are lit in the harvested fields and in the front yards of houses and people gather around the rising flames, circle around (parikrama) the bonfire and throw puffed rice, popcorn and other munchies into the fire, shouting “Aadar aye dilather jaye” (May honor come and poverty vanish!), and enjoy this festival by singing and dancing around the bonfire.
Daler Mehndi re-invents the “Baari Barsi” (12 year sojourn of a beloved who on his return is being questioned as to what made him stay away for so long). The song is full of attitude & a clubhouse mix. The words are penned by the Maverick Mehndi & composed with his USP which enshows a dancer and a non dancer to groove alike. The words are funky clearly showcasing a brave heart, a Punjabi chakde spirit.
So get ready to light the bonfire and dance to Daler Mehndi’s new gift –
THE LOHRI SONG.
Aao Sangatey is a song, ‘Geet’ for the Prabhat Pheri with words that are not inscribed in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This song is not considered as Gurbani but more so like a Geet, a folk song (written in a North Indian Language-PUNJABI) that a common man (not versed with Gurbani) can follow. Traditionally, Prabhat Pheri’s started during the time of the Sixth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Har Gobind Singh Ji when He was taken captive in the Gwalior Fort. The Sikh followers in Amritsar would sing the hymns from the Adi Granth while walking through the city roads in the Prabhat (or early morning hours before sunrise). By singing & chanting these Songs, a positive euphoric atmosphere was created. Now the Sikhs take out Prabhat Pheri’s celebrating Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Birth Anniversary & during the Dasam Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Birth Anniversary across the world. The Song is Composed & Performed by “Kuldeep Sandhu”. Product Info Aao Sangatey is a Geet, Lyrics by S.
